Although not as popular as some wine South Africa destinations, actually on the cutting edge of active wine tourism. A visit to the vineyard trail in the area of Stellenbosch in South Africa you can experience the beautiful landscape, taste delicious wines, and remain active in the process.
South Africa has over 13 wine regions, all located in the Western Cape centered on the city of Cape Town. While each has its charm, the Stellenbosch area, the most famous and the location is the vineyard trail.
Stellenbosch is an interesting city, boasting a University and a fun city with hotels, shops and restaurants. It is surrounded by mountains, including the Helderberg, Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek Valley and Simonsberg ranges.
The most visitors, the travel to Stellenbosch and are interested in wine drive one of the well-promoted Stellenbosch American Express wine routes. These five driving routes have connection of the participating wineries, planned tasting hours and a Web page to the concept maps.
However, it is not the wine trails to win traveler the active wine after South Africa. Much less well known, Stellenbosch area has called the vineyard trail also a fantastic number of marked paths.
Without its own website, and with little promotion the vineyard trail traveled neither known nor high. The way is on the Sugarbird Manor, a fantastic small pension centered that until before recently World Wildlife Fund - was South Africa. The doors of the Inn, it is possible to achieve one of the three vineyard trail routes: 3.3 km communities of the wine route, the 8.8 km Devon Valley Road and 14.3 km mountain bike route. The paths are signposted and a standard card is available, all for a small access fee. Vineyards along the routes to enjoy the guests.
One of the aspects of the vineyard trail, which makes it so cutting edge in wine tourism is Wanderer may on private property in the whole go. In contrast to Europe, where most paths through wine areas, on public roads or in the United States, where property and concerns make public vineyard, leads a rarity, has teamed in South Africa the local grape growers together to their countries for tourists accessible.
And you make no mistake - walk through the vineyards is more rewarding than the drive from Winery to Winery. For one thing, it eliminates the drinking and driving problem. On the other hand, it is healthy. Best of all, it offers a greater connection to the wine you drink. After you work a welding transfer line after the line of the cultivated grapes, taste the wine you drink that much better.
